District Profile
Jharsuguda district has a rich and developed cultural heritage. The district is the second most urbanized district in the state. The fairs and festivals are common to other parts of Odisha but there are few which are distinct – Ranjita festival, Ratha Jatra of Kukurjunga, Gokulastami Jatra of Rajpur and makar Rathajatra of Belpahar. Economy of the district is mainly dependent on cultivation, but in the last ten years there has been a lot of industrialisation close to jharsuguda town.
